ETC's Second Annual Open Streets is Happening This Summer!
On Sunday, July 11th, the East Trenton Collaborative held the first Open Streets event of 2021!
Beginning last summer, ETC’s Parks Conditions Committee and Traffic Safety Committee collaborated to organize these events in an effort to bring the community together during the COVID-19 pandemic in a safe way. We closed down the streets to vehicles and opened them to pedestrians every Saturday in August and September and provided food, games, activities, and more.
Our first event of the 2021 summer included a pop-up skate park with Freedom Skate Park, a bike repair station with Trenton Cycling Revolution, informational tables with Isles and the Watershed Institute, and free walk-up COVID-19 vaccines from the Trenton Health Team.
We also brought back the beloved Bingo where residents of all ages joined us for multiple rounds of Bingo and were able to win prizes and reunite with community members.
In addition to partnering with other non-profits and community organizations, this summer ETC’s Open Streets Events will feature vendors! These vendors are members of our community who make and sell jewelry, food, clothes, and more. This week we were joined by Crocheting & More, who sells handmade crocheting and accessories, in addition to East Trenton resident Beverly Beatty who sells hamburgers, hotdogs, and more.
We hope you will join us at our next Open Streets event on July 25th at George Page Park/Lawrence Street for free vaccines from Trenton Health Team, a pop-up skate park with Freedom Skate Park, games from the Isles T-Recs truck, food, games, fun, and more!
