January Community Meeting Recap

Happy 2023 East Trenton! Us here at ETC are excited to get the new year started and get back to work, and were thrilled to see so many East Trenton residents come out to our first community meeting of 2023!

Our committees are back in full force this year, and are already planning events and tackling city issues! TSCOC will be attending the Trenton Planning Board meeting next week on February 9th to discuss the potential increase truck traffic and its impact on East Trenton due to the new warehouse construction in Lawrence Township. TSCOC resident volunteers will be advocating for improvements to the intersection and Mulberry Street and Enterprise Avenue, along with other relevant policy responses. The Civic Engagement Committee is also jumping into the new year, and is planning a Trenton City Council meet-and-greet sometime in March! With new officials joining our council this year, it is crucial East Trenton residents have the opportunity to get together and meet our community representatives. Additionally, this event will serve as an excellent way for ETC and residents to gather together and engage as a community! More information regarding this event will be published as the date gets closer.

A big thank you to Pearl Thomposon from Isles for speaking with residents about their work enhancing Urban Agriculture in the community! And make sure to check out Isles’s latest announcement, “Sacred Health and Wellness” (starting February 8th!) on their Instagram page @islesinc.

Lastly, ETC was extremely happy to report that around 30 resident projects have been approved for our 2022 Small Home Repair period! It is a primary aim of ETC to spur development in the community, and we are ecstatic to see our SHR progrm accompish this so personally, and help residents in East Trenton improve the safety and functionality of their homes.
