ETC & GHHI Advocating at City Council
East Trenton Collaborative and Green & Healthy Homes Initiative(GHHI) Khari Muhamad spoke at City Council Thursday, May 18th, about how important it is for our City and State to do more to help eliminate child exposure to lead toxins.
"It is imperative children six and under be screened for possible lead exposure and have blood lead levels tested as early as possible between 6 months and 24 months since this is the period of a child's most rapid brain growth and when babies start crawling and putting things in their mouth."
Many are unaware that Trenton ranks “1st among the five large municipalities with the highest percent of children under 6 years of age with an elevated blood lead level at or above 5 micrograms of lead per deciliter”, as evidenced by remarks from council members.
